Manaslu Circuit Trek

The Manaslu Circuit Trek is a fascinating alternative to the well-known Annapurna Circuit. It takes trekkers on a journey around the beautiful Mt. Manaslu, which is the eighth-highest peak in the world. The natural beauty on the trek is one of a kind. There are snow-capped hills, thick woods, beautiful valleys, and frozen rivers. Along the Budhi Gandaki, you can learn about the rich traditional Tibetan and Himalayan Sherpa culture as you trek through lovely towns.

The trek starts at Machha Khola and slowly goes up through thick woods, showing beautiful scenery and traditional towns. As the path heads northwest from Jagat, the view changes. The forest line goes away, and a stunning view of Manaslu and the Ganesh Himal range opens up. The trail goes along the mountain’s edge, hitting its highest point at Larkya La before going down into the Marsyangdi valley.

The Manaslu Circuit Trek is different from other treks because it includes the upper Manaslu road and an additional journey to the beautiful Tsum Valley. With its waterfalls, steep trails, warm woods, and amazing mountain views, it is a great outdoor experience. The trek has recently been improved by adding a lodge at the high camp. This has made it easier for people to reach, but it has kept its remote feel.

At the break of dawn, we will set off from the vibrant streets of Kathmandu towards Gorkha, commencing our adventure on the Manaslu Circuit trek. Following a satisfying breakfast, our journey will commence with an 8-hour drive spanning approximately 150 kilometers to reach Soti Khola.

After enjoying a satisfying and delectable breakfast, we embark on our journey to Jagat via a thrilling jeep ride. The path leading to Jagat is brimming with exciting adventures, as we traverse alongside the picturesque Budi Gandaki River. Throughout the approximately 8-hour drive, we are treated to awe-inspiring views of the captivating landscape. Finally, we arrive at Jagat, where we will spend the night, rejuvenating ourselves for the adventures that lie ahead.

Our journey to Deng village will begin promptly at 08:00 AM. The path we will follow runs alongside the Budhi Gandaki River, offering picturesque views along the way. Situated at an altitude of 2000 meters above sea level, Deng is a charming small village that awaits our arrival. The trek itself covers a distance of approximately 13 kilometers, which we anticipate will take us around 6 to 7 hours to complete. As we traverse the trail, we will be surrounded by the beauty of pine and rhododendron forests, encounter Buddhist stupas, monasteries, chortens, and prayer flags, and cross several suspension bridges. Our route will also lead us through quaint villages such as Philim and Ekle Bhatti before we finally reach Deng.

Upon completing our morning meal, we will embark on a trek towards the picturesque village of Namrung, nestled at an impressive altitude of 2600m. Anticipate a journey lasting approximately 7 to 8 hours to reach our destination. The trail will lead us alongside the enchanting Serang Khola, guiding us across numerous suspension bridges along the way. Prior to our arrival in Namrung, we will pass through the charming Ghap village. Throughout our expedition, we will traverse through verdant forests adorned with vibrant rhododendrons and majestic pine trees. After crossing the river and strolling alongside its banks, we will finally arrive at Namrung, where we will spend the night. Namrung village, deeply rooted in Tibetan traditions, offers us a remarkable opportunity to immerse ourselves in the rich tapestry of the local culture, steeped in ancient customs and practices.

Following our delightful evening in Namrung, our next destination is Lho. Situated at an altitude of 3500 meters, it will require approximately 6 hours of trekking reaching this village. Throughout our journey today, we will be treated to awe-inspiring vistas of Peak 29 and the magnificent Mount Manaslu. Additionally, we will have the opportunity to observe the glacier from the lateral moraine, providing us with a close-up perspective. Finally, after a picturesque 6-hour hike, we will arrive in Lho, a charming village adorned with grand monasteries.

Today, we will rise early in the morning to witness the captivating sunrise, as the view of Manaslu from this vantage point is truly mesmerizing. The viewpoint above Gompas provides an ideal spot to soak in the awe-inspiring scenery. Following this delightful experience, we will indulge in a hearty breakfast before embarking on our trek from Lho to Samagaon, situated at an elevation of 3550 meters. The duration of this trek is estimated to be around 5 hours, allowing us ample time to immerse ourselves in the surrounding beauty. During our journey today, we will encounter the Hinang River and Damodar River, as we traverse through a path adorned with lush forests and picturesque barley fields. After enjoying our meal, we embark on our rest and acclimatization journey by venturing into the breathtaking landscapes that surround us. We are presented with two enticing options: we can either embark on a hike to Manaslu Base Camp or pay a visit to the enchanting Punggyen Gompa. These activities play a crucial role in helping our bodies adjusts to the altitude, as in the upcoming days, we will be required to traverse the Larkey La pass, which stands at an impressive elevation of 5106 meters. Additionally, we have the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the rich traditions and culture of the local village during our exploration. Once we have explored these magnificent locations and allowed our bodies to acclimatize, we can return to our cozy teahouse and unwind for the evening, indulging in numerous cups of tea and a comforting meal.

We will proceed with our journey to Samdo village after having our breakfast. Samdo village is situated at an altitude of 3800 meters. It will take us approximately 3 hours to reach our destination. The trail commences with a descent towards the Budhi Gandaki River, following the path of the base camp. Once we cross a wooden bridge, we will encounter a steep ascent leading to a ridge. Throughout the trek, you will have the opportunity to witness the awe-inspiring views of the snow-capped peaks of Manaslu, Samdo, and Dharamshala. In comparison to previous days, this particular trek is relatively easier.

Today's trek is relatively easy, with a short distance to cover from Samdo village to Larkya Phedi or Dharmasala. The journey involves crossing an icy stream and transitioning into a drier and more barren terrain. While the altitude gain may pose a challenge, the trek mainly consists of a few short ascents and descents. By completing the morning walk at Larkya Phedi, which translates to the base of the hill or pass, you will have the afternoon free to enjoy a leisurely short hike.

Embarking on an early morning journey, we strive to conquer the majestic Larkya-La pass, standing tall at an elevation of 5,135 meters. This arduous and lengthy ascent rewards us with breathtaking vistas of the encompassing hills and valleys, adorned by the awe-inspiring presence of Mt. Manaslu, Larkya peak, Bouddha Himal, Himalchuli, and Peak 29. Upon reaching the pinnacle of the pass, adorned with vibrant Buddhist prayer flags and offering mesmerizing panoramas, we take a moment to rest and immerse ourselves in the beauty of the surroundings. Following a well-deserved break, we commence our descent through the lush forested terrain, eventually arriving at Bimthang, where we find solace for the night after a challenging day of trekking.

Today's trek will be a delightful change from the challenging hike on the Larkya-La pass. We will enjoy a gradual descent as we make our way towards our overnight destination, Gho. This picturesque place is nestled amidst lush forests, and as we continue our journey from Bimthang, we will be surrounded by pristine woodlands adorned with vibrant rhododendrons, majestic pines, and sturdy oak trees. Along the way, we will pass by charming farm shades before finally arriving at the tranquil village of Gho.

The downhill path from Gho makes the morning walk much easier, especially when heading towards the Manang area at Telje village along the Marysangdi River. Telje village is known for its numerous fine lodges, making it a popular stop for trekkers on the Annapurna Circuit. Additionally, the Manaslu circuit trekking trail merges with the renowned Annapurna circuit trail, offering a unique and diverse experience. If you have enough time, you can continue towards the Annapurna circuit after crossing the Larkya La pass. Dharapani, with its breathtaking beauty, is a must-visit village and a perfect place to spend your last day in the mountains.

We will start our day by having breakfast and then proceed to Besisahar using a local sharing jeep. The journey to Besisahar usually takes around 2 to 3 hours. Once we have explored Besisahar, we will make our way back to Kathmandu, which typically takes approximately 6 to 7 hours. While local vehicles are available, we strongly suggest opting for a private vehicle for a more comfortable and convenient ride from Besisahar to Kathmandu. Our unforgettable adventure will come to an end in Kathmandu.

On your final day in Nepal, a truly remarkable country filled with the wonders of the Himalayas, you will bid farewell to this enchanting land. Depending on your flight schedule, our dedicated staff will escort you from your hotel to the airport, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free departure. Reflecting on the incredible memories and experiences gained during your Nepal trip, this last day marks the end of an unforgettable adventure.
