Trip Overview

Located in Solukhumbu district in eastern Nepal, Amadablam (6812m) is one of the most beautiful and technical mountains in the world. It is often compared with Mt. Matterhorn of Swiss Alps. Ama dablam means “Mother’s necklace”, the long ridges on each side like the arms of a mother (ama) protecting her child and the hanging glacier thought of as the dablam (the traditional double-pendant containing pictures of the gods, worn by sherpa women).

Despite having an altitude below 7000m, it is one of the technical mountains and requires experienced climber with previous experience of 6000m peaks. The climb is mostly vertical and requires traversing in exposed ridges; the peak requires both strength and determination.
Ama dablam Expedition is 25-30 days long. Starting from Kathmandu, the first priority will be acclimatization and safety.

Rest assured, our dedicated guides prioritize safety above all else and will provide comprehensive briefings to prepare you for the summit. Your well-being throughout the expedition is our paramount concern.

Acclimatization plays a key role in preparing our body for trekking in high altitude. As the elevation increases the amount of oxygen in the atmosphere also decreases. As we are climb up to altitudes of more than 6812m ( Ama dablam peak) in the coming days, resting at Namche helps us to acclimatize easily. The best way to acclimatize is walking at high altitude and sleeping at lower altitude. So, on our 3rd day of trekking, we will hike up to an elevation of 3850M.
Early in the morning, After breakfast we’ll hike up to the Everest view point. At Namche, From the hotel we will be staying, we can observe Mt. Kantega, Thamserku. From the Everest viewpoint, we’ll get the first glimpse of Mt. Everest along with Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Amadablam, Mt. Thamserku and other surrounding peaks. DAY 9 TO 24 Ama- Dablam expeditions (rotations and Summit)
During days 9 to 24 of the Ama Dablam expedition, there are a series of activities and movements that climbers typically go through to reach the summit. Here's a simplified explanation.Climbers usually don't go straight from the Base Camp to the summit because it's physically demanding and risky. Instead, they do a rotation. This means they go up to higher camps, spend some time there to get used to the higher altitude, and then return to a lower camp to rest. It's like a practice run to prepare their bodies for the final push to the summit.
The summit is the very top of the mountain, and it's the ultimate goal of the expedition. After completing the rotations and feeling ready, climbers make their way from the last high camp to the summit. This part is challenging and requires careful planning and teamwork. Reaching the summit is a significant achievement in mountain climbing.
So, during days 9 to 24, climbers are essentially getting ready for and then making their way to the top of Ama Dablam, with some stops along the way to ensure they are physically and mentally prepared for the final ascent.

After summiting the majestic Ama Dablam, it is time to begin the descent. The descent should be relatively straightforward as you retrace your steps back to Pheriche and then to Deboche. As you descend, you will observe the landscape becoming increasingly lush and vibrant with vegetation. In Pheriche, you will encounter rhododendron and birch tree forests. Continuing your trek, you will arrive at Tengboche, where you will spend the night.

The descent continues, initially following a level path that leads to Phunki Tenga. From Phunki Tenga, the trail ascends to reach Kyangjuma. After Kyangjuma, the path becomes easy downhill, passing several chortens, and eventually leads to Namche Bazaar.

The team will be following the same trail that we took on the first and the second day of the descending down the hill and crossing the Hillary bridge to reach Jarsalle and following the bank of Dudh koshi river and passing by Monjo, Toc Toc, Phakding, Thadokoshi, Cheplung and reach Lukla. At lukla, We will bid farewell to the porters who helped the entire team with carrying heavy backpacks and making it easier to complete the summit.

The team will board the earliest flight to Kathmandu after having breakfast at Lukla. Taking off from the shortest runway of lukla airport (Tenzing- Hillary airport) is quite adrenaline pumping and fun. The flight will be 30-35 minutes. Once we check out from the airport, It will be a 30 minutes drive back to the hotel. The remaining day will be a rest day followed by a team dinner event in the evening.

If you have an Extra day and want to travel to more places in Nepal, we will assist to entertain your further stay. Or if you have a departing flight from Nepal, Our team will accompany you to the airport.
